Hormozgan Ports Authority Unveils Major Infrastructure and Investment Initiatives to Boost Maritime Economy

abs nj The Director General of the Ports and Maritime of Hormozgan Province, Hossein Abbasnejad, announced a series of significant developments aimed at strengthening the province’s maritime infrastructure, facilitating investment, and enhancing coastal management. The announcements include the issuance and renewal of various port and maritime permits, the commencement of construction for private shipbuilding and repair yards, and specialized studies for the placement of large-scale desalination plants.

Abbasnejad outlined the administration’s strategic approach, which focuses on streamlining legal procedures and supporting infrastructure and economic projects along the province’s coastal belt.

As part of its development programs, the authority has issued an operating permit for the Gachin Persian Gulf Martyrs Commercial Dock. Abbasnejad noted that this facility is expected to play a pivotal role in boosting commercial capacities, supporting maritime transport, and stimulating regional economic exchanges.

In the energy sector, the director general announced the issuance of an operating permit for the 35,000-ton Hara Oil Dock in Qeshm. He explained that this terminal will significantly enhance Qeshm Island’s logistical and operational capacities in oil and maritime transport, thereby improving service delivery in the sector.

Emphasizing the importance of private sector engagement, Abbasnejad announced the issuance of an operating permit for an oil company in Qeshm, reiterating that supporting investors in maritime, port, and oil industries remains a top priority for the Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization.

“Launching and expanding such facilities will not only create new job opportunities but also play an effective role in upgrading the technical, engineering, and support service chains for maritime industries in the province,” Abbasnejad stated.

Looking toward future needs, the Hormozgan Ports and Maritime directorate is conducting specialized assessments of coastal areas to optimize the placement of large-scale desalination plants. These evaluations are being handled by the Provincial Coastal Organization and Management Committee.

Abbasnejad stressed the critical importance of this initiative, citing the growing need for sustainable water supply and the necessity of utilizing coastal capacities effectively. “Expert studies are being conducted to select the most suitable locations, ensuring that technical, environmental, and developmental considerations are strictly observed,” he said.

The Director of the Shahid Rajaee Port Free Zone Economic Area also addressed the meeting, highlighting the technical and supervisory efforts of the Coast and Ports Department to ensure infrastructure integrity, safety, and operational efficiency.

Concluding his remarks, Abbasnejad reaffirmed Hormozgan Province’s strategic role in the country’s maritime economy. He described the recent actions as evidence of a serious commitment to developing port and maritime infrastructure, facilitating investment, and enhancing specialized services.
